Aside from a few blips on the radar this week, the overarching astrological signature involves Neptune as it stations direct on Saturday, Nov. 28 after having been retrograde since the Summer Solstice. Neptune’s actual retrograde isn’t a big deal due to its distance from the Earth, so we’re usually focused on its station, or the time it appears to hover motionless between its apparent forward or backward movement. Its long-lasting station indicates an amplification of its qualities over the course of a week or two. In the case of Neptune, the symbolic focus tends to be on illusions, delusions, infections and epidemics.
Neptune is associated with all things invisible, unseen or overlooked which is closely associated with truths, viruses or conspiracies, and from the look of things right now, all of the above. A troubling story emerged this past week from an ICU nurse in North Dakota (one of the most infected places in the world) who described many Covid-19 patients in total denial; angry and unbelieving that they were infected, to the point of yelling, “It’s not real!” until they had to be intubated!
The stark divide between reality streams is increasing even as we pass a quarter million American deaths and tens of millions of infections in the U.S. alone. In fact, I have social media acquaintances that I’ve always assumed to be rational and informed who insist that the pandemic is a massive hoax.
With the Neptune factor as a backdrop, millions of Americans are planning on traveling via planes, trains and automobiles to mingle with their far-flung families for a day or two before returning home and their communities. In addition, after spending Thanksgiving Day in close proximity to asymptomatic relatives, these same individuals will crowd together into big box stores to fight over big screen televisions and game consoles. I fear this gives “Black Friday” a whole new meaning, making it even more imperative to regard the day after Thanksgiving as “Buy Nothing Day.”
Thanksgiving Day Outlook
Taking a closer look at the geocosmic signatures surrounding Thanksgiving Day itself, we see the Moon waxing in the feverish sign of Aries while forming troubling, square aspects throughout the day to the problematic trio of planets in Capricorn: Pluto, Jupiter and Saturn. These are the planets that have largely set the tone of 2020 back in January and with the Moon banging-up against them now, all the more reason to conduct your family gathering online, particularly if its members are of two, widely separated realities.
With the current socio-political climate as fraught as it is, begging-off on attending Thanksgiving dinner for health reasons is the way to go in any case. Another astrological signature taking the initiative for ensuring the health of the family is the Sun (leadership, authority) forming a flowing trine aspect with Chiron (sickness and health). The night ends with one last slice of pumpkin pie when the Moon enters Taurus at 10:45 pm and we sink into a deep food coma and a heart full of gratitude and peace.
Grace
After all is said and done, this is the time given to count our many blessings, and despite the challenges and heartbreaks of this past year, there is still so much to be grateful for. We’re reminded that we’re in the midst of a great shift of the ages where the darkness is being exposed for us to recognize, transmute and rearticulate, which, as difficult as it now appears, will ultimately be seen as a blessing in some future time. Yet for now, it’s enough to find joy wherever we can while feeling grateful for every breath we take on this beautiful blue planet, spinning in the middle of nowhere. Bless us all.
Lunar Gardening Report
Ideal planting and feeding conditions are available on Sunday and Monday with the Moon waxing in Pisces; an excellent time for sprouting, transplanting, repotting and fertilizing, especially with marine-based inputs. Late morning Tuesday through Thanksgiving Day are better for weed and pest control than for planting or feeding under the Aries Moon. Friday, Saturday and Sunday are good days for any kind of planting or fertilizing, especially tubers or plants requiring strong root development with the Moon making its way through Taurus.
Daily Forecast (For all signs)
(Times are Eastern Standard/-0500UTC)
Sunday, Nov. 22: The morning hours could be marked by a bout of difficult news and/or media accounts of anger or violence while closer to home we might be looking at arguments that no one can win (Mercury quincunx Mars). Otherwise, with the rest of the day under the dreamy auspices of the Pisces Moon, movies, music, books and naps come highly recommended with a leap of the imagination midafternoon.
Monday, Nov. 23: As the Moon continues its journey through the emotional waters of Pisces, the thing to be aware of is the potential for idealism and wishful thinking overruling common sense, particularly in the late morning hours. Poetry, creative writing, chanting, meditation and prayer are highlighted as we approach the midnight hour. News surrounding viral superspreader events tied to holiday travel are also major themes to watch (Mercury trine stationary Neptune).
Tuesday, Nov. 24: Look for a noticeable shift in the background tone at 10:00 am when the Moon crosses the cusp of laid-back Pisces into the action-oriented fire sign of Aries. Late afternoon is an excellent time to go all-in with regard to projects and other initiatives that won’t get done by themselves. There might be yet another spike in news surrounding Covid-19, a theme we’ll continue to hear a lot about, particular in relation to Thanksgiving travel.
Wednesday, Nov. 25: The Aries Moon finds expression through last minute preparations for tomorrow’s feast and family gatherings. Coincidental to this event is an astrological signature that could be read as: if you love and care about your parents and extended family, you’ll celebrate virtually (Venus quincunx Chiron). Whatever transpires, watch for flashes of anger and minor accidents shortly after sunset when the Moon joins Mars, high in the southern sky.
Thursday, Nov. 26: Thanksgiving Day. The feisty Aries Moon presides over this day of gratitude and togetherness, fraught with the usual mixture of love and irritation. Hopefully, and for some families, blessedly, such gatherings are likely to take place over Zoom instead of the dinner table as illustrated by a positive health aspect peaking in the late afternoon (Sun trine Chiron). Even so, things could grow rather testy after sunset when the irrepressible Aries Moon squares stubborn Saturn, another good reason to hold Thanksgiving online. Avoid making promises you intend to keep after 6:45 pm when the Moon goes VOC in Aries until entering Taurus four hours later, after many of us have already fallen into deep food comas.
Friday, Nov. 27: Buy Nothing Day. I know, but the deals! After folks gathered together indoors over the last couple days, they will now crowd into big box stores, giving a whole new meaning to “Black Friday,” a consumer superspreader event if there ever was one. A predawn aspect suggests potential trickery and shenanigans among those awaiting the much anticipated, Opening of the Doors (Mercury sextile Pluto) while a major surprise could be awaiting us closer to noon (Venus opposed Uranus). Typically, the latter is often associated with disruptions and unexpected developments in the realm of love, sex or money, yet with Neptune stationary ahead of turning direct tomorrow, we should expect all manner of weirdness dominating the day. The best strategy for keeping safe is to avoid crowds, particularly in Covid hotspots, keeping a low profile while maintaining a healthy suspicion of anything that looks too good to be true.
Saturday, Nov. 28: The big news today involves nebulous Neptune ending retrograde, remaining virtually motionless (stationing) in the middling degrees of Pisces (18Pis09). Even though Neptune hasn’t really moved much over the past week, its directional change marks a period of potential weirdness in the way of confusions, deceptions, denials, disillusionments, infections and contagions. Considering millions of people are still participating in superspreader holiday events, this could indicate the invisible threat of a Covid-19 virus conflagration that won’t become apparent until the final run-up to Christmas. The upside of stationary Neptune carries the power of prayer and visualization for a safe and healthy end to this exhausting year. Be safe. Stay sane.
