Here at the outset of this final month of 2019, most of the faster-moving, interplanetary aspects are quiet as the Moon waxes into its First Quarter, suggesting a week geared toward putting projects, plans and initiatives in motion. This isn’t to say things are getting back to “normal,” considering the fact that we’re in the midst of the Saturn-Pluto conjunction growing toward exact over the next six weeks. This is a topic I’ll cover in greater detail in the weeks to come while I now direct your attention to Jupiter, planet of expansion as it enters the conservative, ambitious sign of Capricorn where it will remain until December 2020.
Jupiter’s general symbolism tends to follow along the lines of expansion, growth, magnification, prosperity, abundance, waste and extravagance as well as matters pertaining to legal instruments and legislation. Jupiter has spent the past year transiting the sign of its rulership, Sagittarius, where we’ve seen politically-motivated behaviors reach beyond the boundaries of established law, leading to the constitutional crisis we find ourselves in today.
Moving into Capricorn, Jupiter’s power of expansion finds itself in a more structured and restricted space than it has in some time. The earthly sign of Capricorn (not to be confused with your sun sign personality) is all about boundaries, systems, networks and the status quo. Corporations and banking systems are Capricornian in nature, which would suggest that Jupiter’s transit of this sign over the coming year will magnify both the positive and negative sides of national and global economics.
Considering the fact that the last time Jupiter occupied Capricorn was Dec. 18, 2007 - Jan. 5, 2009, it presided over a perfect storm called the Great Recession of 2008 when the specter of greed and overreach (Jupiter) forced the bail-out of some of the biggest banks (Capricorn) in the country to prevent a global financial meltdown. Not only did it hit corporations, but had a negative effect on real-estate markets while wiping-out many a retirement investment account. Of course, that was 12 years ago and cycles rarely repeat themselves as far as their contents are concerned, not to mention that surely we learned our lesson, right?
In a mundane context, Jupiter’s aspects and placements tend to show more on a social level than on an individual one, but this isn’t always the case as Jupiter transits to personal planets most definitely find notable expression close to home. Though Jupiter is considered weakened in Capricorn (the sign of Jupiter’s “fall”), its good graces of opportunity and abundance can be applied in a systematic and structured way that actually yields better, more robust results over the long run. The problem often stems from sloppy management, loose ethical boundaries, over-extension and the lure of easy money as we saw with the financial victims of Bernie Madoff during Jupiter’s last visit to Capricorn.
If we can rise above these pitfalls and instead rely on the time-tested and conservatively-oriented approach to success, Jupiter will aid us in reaching our goals and aspirations. Clearly defining what one desires would be the first step while also looking to traditional approaches or techniques in which to help you call your future desires to yourself. At best, liberal Jupiter’s influence on conservative Capricorn and vice versa could lead to breakthroughs that go beyond limited belief systems and the things that divide instead of unite.
Take advantage of the coming year by setting your sights on a step-by-step process that will provide concrete, long lasting results, greater levels of personal creativity, satisfaction and abundance.
Lunar Gardening Report
It looks as though poor planting and fertilizing conditions will prevail both Sunday and Monday with the Moon in agriculturally-barren Aquarius; good days to avoid doing much of anything in the garden. The very best days for all forms of sprouting, seeding, transplanting, fertilizing or cutting to encourage growth takes place Tuesday through Thursday morning with the Moon waxing in Pisces. Thursday afternoon through Saturday are good days to cut, clear, rake, weed and compost under the Aries Moon, but a lousy day to plant or feed. Better to wait until the Moon occupies Taurus Sunday and Monday.
Daily Forecast (For all signs)
(Times are Eastern Standard/-0500UTC)
Sunday, Dec. 1: The potential for a sharp energy spike in the early morning is strong when the Aquarius Moon aspects Mars with things leveling-out as the day progresses. Cool, clear and emotionally detached observations should be seen as a necessary approach to matters we tend to take too personally.
Monday, Dec. 2: With the Moon void-of-course (VOC) in Aquarius from 7:27 am through the remainder of the day, you might want to keep it as simple and routine as possible while looking to tomorrow to get the ball rolling. Perhaps the biggest news of the entire week takes place this afternoon when Jupiter, the planet of expansion and growth crosses into the conservative earth sign of Capricorn for a one-year visit. There are numerous ways in which Jupiter in Capricorn can manifest but the most significant impact will be seen on socio-political or anything involving the status quo. On an individual scale of expression, the coming year may present us with opportunities, hidden within long-established traditions while optimism is tempered with an element of caution. Penetrating conversations, research or a deep dive into a mystery are indicated later tonight (Mercury sextile Pluto).
Tuesday, Dec. 3: The Moon enters Pisces during the overnight hours, opening us to the quantum realm of visions and dreams even as the Moon makes first contact with Jupiter since yesterday’s Capricorn ingress. Bright ideas and unusual pursuits can lead to morning breakthroughs along with the sense to allow our better angels to prevail in matters that extend beyond our personal self-interests. Sexuality and intimacy are emphasized today which may or may not be a good thing, depending on your situation (Venus sextile Uranus). This aspect can also be used for creative projects or anything requiring a combination of inspiration and passion.
Wednesday, Dec. 4: We reach the Pisces Moon’s First Quarter Phase in the wee hours, signaling a day of adjustments as we recalibrate our trajectories ahead of the Full Moon, one week from today. A lighter-than-air contact between the Moon and Neptune in Pisces could mean a number of things, but confusion and deception tend to be the most common default setting. We land back on solid ground midafternoon while a more probing state of mind is likely to emerge later tonight.
Thursday, Dec. 5: The Moon continues to wax in Pisces, lending itself to some very unusual encounters or states of mind, at least until it crosses the cusp of Aries at 2:45 pm and we are more prone to acting or reacting to input. There is some potential of overdoing things in the late afternoon with greater focus being placed on the subject of health a little bit later.
Friday, Dec. 6: A very active day in store with the Aries Moon rubbing Mars the wrong way in the early afternoon, followed by differences in tastes and values somewhat later. The Moon enters into its Gibbous Phase later tonight, signaling a strong surge toward next week’s Full Moon.
Saturday, Dec. 7: General conditions appear relatively calm despite the Moon in fiery Aries and the fact that the Moon will be VOC beginning at 10:00 am and will remain void for the remainder of the day. Today would be a good day to simply chill out and enjoy a little downtime with family and friends.
