On this last full week of summer we pull away from Friday night’s Harvest Moon in Pisces while watching the emphasis shift toward the concepts of duty, responsibility and heavy lifting as Saturn stands virtually motionless in mid-Capricorn (13Cap54) during its direct station. There’s likely to be considerable pressure to get things done, things that were put on hold, stalled or delayed since late April when Saturn stationed retrograde.
Saturn’s direct station tells us to get our act together and face the music, particularly in areas where we’ve been less than responsible or forthright. Hard work and pressure in the face of obstacles or resistance is often associated with an amplified Saturn while individuals with planets or points hovering on or near the middle degrees of Capricorn, Aries, Cancer and Libra are already feeling a strong sense of emotional gravity.
As I briefly mentioned last week, Saturn in Capricorn is now stationing directly opposite the U.S. Sun in Cancer (13Can18) where it places greater pressure on the executive branch of the government or anyone in a position of power and influence. Of these, I would say Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell are the two main targets of Saturn, with the latter being the most important at this time. Congress is back in session and Moscow Mitch already dissembling, particularly with regard to the epidemic of gun violence.
It’s also important to note that the Sun in an individual’s natal chart represents not only one’s destiny, but also one’s heart and one’s soul. In the case of the United States having its Sun in Cancer, the country’s soul (Sun) is meant to be expressed through compassion and nurturance (Cancer) as a mother to her children. Saturn stationing opposite the U.S. Sun coincides with what appears to be a coldhearted disdain for downtrodden refugees and their children as well as retrograde policy decision designed to take us back to the bad old days. Saturn isn’t doing anything but calling our attention to how far we’ve strayed while warning us that we’re collectively dealing with a heartless executive branch.
Lunar Gardening Report
Sunday and Monday are ideal for weed and pest control as well as mowing, clearing and pruning to inhibit growth with the Moon in Aries. Good planting and fertilizing conditions arrive Tuesday through late afternoon Thursday under the Taurus Moon, perhaps one of the best lunar placements for boosting the nutritional content of soil. This is also the last opportunity for planting we’re going to see until the end of the month. The waning Moon enters the sterile sign of Gemini on Thursday at 5:00 pm where it will remain until Sunday, suggesting we keep garden chores to a minimum. The Gemini Moon reaches its Last Quarter Phase late Sunday night, closing the door on the lunar fertility cycle.
Daily Forecast (For all signs)
(Times are Eastern Daylight/-0400UTC)
Sunday, Sept. 15: Aside from leftover commotion in the wake of yesterday’s Full Moon and Mars-Neptune signatures, there is little astrological activity making an impact. Even so, the Aries Moon could be keeping the engines revved even if all we really want to do is relax; fortunately, another lunar alignment later in the day could provide an excuse to chill out, even against our own desires.
Monday, Sept. 16: Another high-energy day in store with the Aries Moon running the show until noon, at which time it goes void-of-course (VOC) until tomorrow morning; so you’ll want to get it in the oven during the morning hours. Watch for breaking news involving health and wellness themes with something grabbing our attention in a big way (Mercury opposed Chiron).
Tuesday, Sept. 17: The Moon enters Taurus just before sunrise coinciding with a welcome sense of grounding after days of abstractions and misdirected energy. Matters might come to our attention today regarding health and relationship with a focus on lifestyle changes (Venus opposed Chiron). Erratic speech, strange utterances and weird news are on tap later in the day and I bet you can name the source of such things. Unexpected changes or perhaps the need to break free from limiting circumstances are indicated shortly before sunset.
Wednesday, Sept. 18: Saturn, planet of structures, restrictions and limitations stations direct in mid-Capricorn (13Cap54) this morning after having been retrograde since the end of April. This could mean heavy news, emotional gravity or episodes of shaming and guilt-tripping. Stationary Saturn also coincides with the need to apply ourselves to getting things done, particularly items that we’re responsible for or matters we’re being held accountable to. This becomes quite evident late morning when the Taurus Moon taps Saturn and asks for practical action instead of empty rhetoric.
Thursday, Sept. 19: The Taurus Moon continues to keep things practical and grounded while maybe offering stubborn resistance or a reluctance to cooperate. Another contact suggests episodes of overwhelming force or a more subtle approach through covert manipulations or exploitations (Mars trine Pluto). Move boldly, yet compassionately. Things grow more cerebral and animated after 5:00 pm when the Moon enters Gemini and we find ourselves having a difficult time turning our minds or mouths off for the night.
Friday, Sept. 20: Today appears busy, but not in an overwhelming way with the waning Gemini Moon forming a series of contacts throughout the day. Cooperative vibes are possible in the morning hours while communication, news and information get a boost in the early afternoon. Delays, blockages or impasses are possible tonight, but no big deal.
Saturday, Sept. 21: United Nations International Day of Peace. The lofty goal of world peace sometimes seems out of reach, but there is a strong contact today that speaks for just this kind of expression (Jupiter square Neptune). Unfortunately, this aspect also tends to default into deceptions, lies and misdirections as well as false optimism or disillusionments. What do you think? Is world peace achievable, or are we going to continue to replay the same script we’ve stuck to for thousands of years? It may not appear that way right now, but I do believe the day is coming when we finally realize that we’re all in this together. In the meantime, the Gemini Moon enters its Last Quarter Phase at 10:41 pm, opening a week of closure while offering an opportunity to reflect on such matters as world peace, peace that starts in our own precious hearts.
