The coming week appears relatively quiet, at least if we’re not counting Mercury making noise via a string of outer-planet contacts on and off until next weekend. The Sun now makes its way through Aquarius, placing more emphasis on group endeavors and the way in which our individual contributions add to the greater good. After spending the past seven weeks in its ruling sign of Scorpio, Mars crosses the cusp into Sagittarius on Friday where it will spend another seven weeks stirring the soup of ideological ire and international conflict. I would also expect to see an increase of angry rhetoric coming from the usual governmental channels whether any of it makes sense or not. All of this contributes to a build-up of energies ahead of the Leo Full Blue Snow SuperMoon/Total Lunar Eclipse on Jan. 31! Otherwise, we continue to see clear-sailing for personal initiatives and projects with little standing in the way of strong gains.
Lunar Gardening Guide
Hopefully, all you diehard gardening enthusiasts are making the most of the uber-fertile Moon in Pisces in place this weekend as they’re the first and best days for planting we’ve had in a long time. This comes to an end on Monday with the Moon making its way through Aries until Wednesday morning; ideal for cutting, clearing, weed and pest control. Planting and fertilizing are once again favored Wednesday morning through Friday morning as the Moon waxes in Taurus with a particular emphasis on soil treatments and planting things that need strong root development. Friday afternoon sees the Moon enter Gemini which is your cue to avoid most gardening activities that directly involve your plants, aside from general watering and maintenance until early afternoon Sunday.
Daily Forecast (For all signs)
(Times are Eastern Standard/0500UTC)
Sunday, Jan. 21: Looks like a quiet, dreamy Sunday under the auspices of the opening Crescent Moon in Pisces; individual results may vary, depending on real life circumstance. Meditation, prayer, yoga, devotional rituals, contemplation, solo walks in nature and other modes of self-reflection are favored during the morning hours while the Moon strikes an oracular note in the late afternoon when we’re encouraged to posit a clearly-stated question. Self-care, rest and recuperation are on the list of things to do as well as music, movies, naps, baths, swims or a good read. Energy levels begin to steadily rise as we move into the nighttime hours, a nudge perhaps in the direction of tomorrow’s more active energy pattern.
Monday, Jan. 22: Following a low-gravity weekend, we’re plunged into a more dynamic and potentially consequential set of circumstances with the Moon strongly waxing in Aries. Something important needs to be addressed first thing this morning, perhaps some minor consequence of Friday’s actions or activities (when the Moon was VOC, perhaps). Once that’s cleared-up, a lighter, more upbeat pattern emerges, ideal for having lunch with a friend or doing something nice for someone, including yourself.
Tuesday, Jan. 23: Words get crossed, quoted, twisted and spun this morning while their impact will largely depend on whether they involve you or only exist in headlines. An ugly focus on plutocratic shenanigans is quite likely in the early afternoon as the movers and shakers move and shake and we stand-by mumbling and grousing about it. Greater levels of restlessness and agitation are possible as we head into the late night hours with a strong potential for a spike on the WTF-O-METER. We might be surprised that we’re not surprised.
Wednesday, Jan. 24: Be aware of hasty, impulsive decisions or agreements made before 8:40 am as the Moon will be VOC in Aries until entering Taurus at that time; it would pay to wait until after that time to pull the trigger. A greater sense of solidity and stability may be present following five days of abstractions and a game of catch-up. Deep, penetrating insights are strong today alongside news involving exposures and revelations which will grow in expression over the coming year (Mercury conjunct Pluto). Effective public speaking, productive research and investigation; winning others over to your way of thinking with persuasive speech and insightful solutions to long-standing problems are positive traits of this contact. Obsessiveness, propaganda, scheming, manipulative and inflammatory speech are often the dark side of this particular penny. Whichever mode of expression we choose, consequences are likely to manifest swiftly while we’re advised to put whatever is going on late afternoon on hold until we get a chance to realign our trajectories with the Moon entering its First Quarter Phase at 5: 20 pm. The remainder of the night is ideal for the scratching of heads and asking deeper questions.
Thursday, Jan. 25: Getting past any initial inertia, this could turn out to be very productive and satisfying day if we align our actions and intentions toward practical pursuits under the Taurus Moon. Opportunities may present themselves early this morning, but we need to be watchful as they may come in disguise even as the media is still going on about yesterday’s business (Mercury sextile Jupiter). Ideological polarity may be in evidence tonight with something being greatly exaggerated, perhaps by an army of Russian trolls intent on disruption and division.
Friday, Jan. 26: The Moon continues to move through the late degrees of Taurus during the morning hours, favorable for looking into personal finances and other material concerns before the Moon crosses into Gemini at 12:40 pm and the tone grows more cerebral. Mars emerges from its underground lair in Scorpio where its been brooding, scheming and obsessing for the past seven weeks, crossing into Sagittarius where ideology and action find an uneasy mix. Religiously-inspired violence, a misplaced sense of righteousness and acts of extreme hypocrisy should be expected over the course of the next seven weeks. On a personal level, world travel and greater efforts to find a publisher are two possible uses of Mars in Sagittarius.
Saturday, Jan. 27: The Gemini Moon is working the grapevine this morning with gossip and rumors prevailing over weightier subjects, ideal for going out to breakfast with a friend or finding something that engages our curiosity and sense of humor. Whatever it is, it would be best to keep things light as another, more potentially confusing or deceptive lunar contact could lead to misunderstandings and memory lapses. Late night news contains some surprises, but we might not know anything about them until tomorrow morning.
